We throw, glaze, and fire every mug, bowl, and platter in our studio — then sell the season's collection in the gallery downstairs. Come watch the wheels turn, take a class, or commission a set for your table.
Our story
Three floors, one wheel room, and a lot of patience
Claysmith Studio took over the old Weaver's Mill in 2014 — the water-power floor is now our glaze room, the carding floor holds twelve wheels, and the top floor is the gallery, lit by the original sawtooth windows.
Every piece that leaves here has been touched by hand more than a dozen times: thrown or built, trimmed, bisque-fired, glazed, fired again. Nothing is cast, nothing is rushed.

Three ways into the studio
Take a class
Wheel-throwing and hand-building, beginner through advanced, taught in small groups on the mill's second floor.
Commission a set
Custom dinnerware for restaurants and wedding registries, glazed to match your palette and thrown to your scale.
Every piece is fired in our two kilns at the base of the mill — small batches, so no two seasons of glaze look quite the same.
