The Passenger Seat
A woman drives across three borders to deliver a letter she hasn't read. Slim, quietly devastating, and better on the second pass — which is why the corners of our copy are already soft.
Est. on a corner, kept by regulars
Deep fiction and poetry stacks, a serious used-books room downstairs, and a cat who edits your choices by sitting on them. Staff picks change every week — come see what's new on the table.
The short version
Marginalia is three rooms and a stubborn belief that a good bookshop is judged by what it keeps, not what it stocks. We shelve fiction and poetry like they matter, because they do, and we send half-read customers home with something better than what they came in for. There is also a cat. His name is Comma. He has opinions about your marginalia.

Poetry
Poems about the size of a kitchen table. We keep pressing this into the hands of people who say they don't read poetry, and none of them have returned it yet.
Used room, first edition
Found in a box of estate books with a pressed violet at page 140. We left the violet in. The rest of the book is very good too.
A word from the staff (unofficial)
He does not shelve. He does not recommend. He sits on the new releases table until you notice the one underneath him. So far, undefeated.

The dispatch
Staff picks before they hit the table, first word on author readings, and the occasional photo of Comma being unhelpful. Unsubscribe whenever — we won't take it personally.
