Saturday Story Hour: Creatures & Critters
Picture books about animals who misbehave, followed by a coloring table. Bring a stuffed animal for the reading circle.
This month, on the calendar
We keep the back room busy: authors passing through, two book clubs that argue affectionately, and a Saturday story hour that runs almost entirely on cookies. Seats are limited on readings — reserve ahead.
How it works
Author readings are free and first-come; book clubs welcome new members any month, no makeup homework required; story hour is for ages 3 to 8 and their exhausted chaperones. Everything below runs in the reading room unless noted.

Author reading
The author of The Passenger Seat reads from her new collection and takes questions. Wine and questionable trivia after.
Book club
This month: Small Weather by Odalys Ferreira. New members always welcome — you do not need to have finished the book, or started it.
Kids' story hour
A gently spooky lineup for confident readers, plus a flashlight if the story calls for it.
Book club
An hour of reading poems aloud badly and loving them anyway. This month's theme: weather.
Never miss a reading
Reading seats go fast and we don't always have room to post twice. Subscribers hear first, with an RSVP link, usually two weeks out.
